The Laurels Bed and Breakfast Kilkenny offers quality Kilkenny accommodation close to Kilkenny City Centre. The Kilkenny Guest house is located directly opposite Hotel Kilkenny and near Kilkenny’s Ring Road. Popular local amenities situated nearby include Kilkenny Castle, Roth House, St. Canice’s Cathedral, The Black Abbey and Nowlan Park home to Kilkenny’s famous Hurling Team.

Popular town located within 30 minutes driving distance include Thomastown, Inistioge, Castlecomer and Callan.

Climate: Ireland enjoys a mild climate with temperatures ranging between 15 – 20 degrees C in the summer and 5 – 8 degrees C in the winter (average). Rain is frequent so an umbrella is a good companion all year round.

Getting around: Most main cities are well serviced by train (visit for details). There are also a number of bus operators making regular trips to and from cities, towns and villages all over Ireland. The LUAS (tram) is an exciting way to explore Dublin. Car hire is also available.

Money: The Republic of Ireland uses the Euro. Northern Ireland has sterling as the local currency.

Provinces: Ireland is divided into four provinces: Leinster, Munster, Connaught and Ulster.

Smoking Ban: The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland have introduced a ban on smoking in all places of work. Smoking is also prohibited in all public areas including bars, nightclubs and restuarants.

Language: In the Republic of Ireland there are two official languages, namely, English and Irish. In Northern Ireland, English is the official language although Irish may be taught in some environments.
